The inductees for the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum were announced yesterday by Steve Wariner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Member and 2009 Songwriting Hall of Fame Inductee Felix Cavaliere. And among the winners are… 1970s/’80s rock band Toto, the late great Chet Atkins, Charlie Daniels. The awards show happens Oct. 12 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
Other inductees: Billy Cox, a longtime collaborator with Jimi Hendrix; guitar god Dick Dale, who accomplishments include appearing in Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello beach movies; the late Victor Feldman, a musician and composer who worked with Glenn Miller, Miles Davis, Steely Dan and many others; songwriter/producer Fred Foster, who worked with Roy Orbison and others, and co-wrote Me and Bobby McGee; and arranger Paul Riser, whose name is synonymous with Motown.
Rascal Flatts won’t do Vandy hospital show this year. Jay DeMarcus says in a lot of the difficult economic times everybody seems to be going through right now, they felt like it was perfect time for them to take a year off and then hit it hard again next year with their Vanderbilt fundraiser. They have played at the hospital for the past four years straight at the Sommet Center. Speaking of the trio. they celebrated another number hit at their No. 1 party for their latest hit single, Here Comes Goodbye, written by Clint Lagerberg and Chris Sligh. The song marks the band’s 11th No. 1 hit. By the way, if the writer’s name, Chris Sligh, sounds familiar… you may want to think back to American Idol, Season 6.
If there was ever a candidate for anger management classes, I would say John Rich is making his own case. As you know from yesterday, John Rich tossed a bottle of beer into the street in the early morning hours at Cafe Coco after a server told him he had to clear all tables of alcohol. But heres a little more spill for ya… Turns out, the last few seconds of the incident was caught on tape and John threatened the server at Cafe Coco, one Kyle Numann. (QUOTE) “I’ll kick your a**!” John says loudly. “And I WILL f***in’ do it.” No reaction yet from John’s camp.
